An old form, in a new home
A classical dance studio in Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur, with training in Bharatanatyam, Kathak & semi-classical, Rajasthani folk, contemporary and wedding choreography.
A little piece of South India, in the heart of Jaipur
Aaharyam is a dance studio built for classical dance. Every corner of the space brings a touch of South Indian aesthetics to Vaishali Nagar: the mirror wall, the mudra details, the mandapa arch and the Nataraja who watches over every class.
Students learn adavus and mudras in order, study what each gesture means, and step on stage only when the foundation is strong. The form is old. The space, and the way we share it, is new.

Taru Chawda
Taru is a certified Bharatanatyam instructor who has taught in Vaishali Nagar since 2018. She trains students for festival and championship stages across Rajasthan, and she runs every batch herself.
“A gesture only reads from the back row if the dancer knows what it means.”
आहार्यं चन्द्रतारादि तं नुमः सात्त्विकं शिवम् ॥
Āhāryaṁ candra-tārādi, taṁ numaḥ sāttvikaṁ śivam“We bow to Shiva, whose body is the whole world, whose speech is all language, whose ornaments are the moon and the stars, and who is pure feeling.”Named after the fourth language of dance
Classical texts describe four kinds of abhinaya, the ways a dancer speaks: āṅgika (the body), vācika (the voice), sāttvika (the inner feeling) and āhārya: costume, jewellery, make-up and stage. Āhārya is how the dancer is dressed for the story. Our studio is built the same way: an ancient art, dressed in a brand new space.
Thoughtfully created for the art
Our new studio opened in August 2026, after months of building it brick by brick. It is one of the largest classical dance studios in Jaipur, designed so dancers have room to move and something beautiful to look at while they do.
The mirror wall
A full-length mirror wall so every line and every mudra can be checked and corrected.
Mudra details
Hand-painted mudra plates line the maroon wall, a quiet lesson on every glance.
Mandapa & Nataraja
A temple-style arch and a Nataraja corner, where every class begins with a bow.
Room to move
A wide, bright hall with wooden floors, big windows and plenty of plants.
